"The French have a phrase, 'bonne affaire', a good deal. This is truly one. Yes, it is more expensive than many of the houses we looked at, but what you get makes it a great value! We lucked out…" E.M.,Vermont
Rental Details and Contact Information
The house is available for in-season rental from mid-April to mid-October. The village is spectacularly beautiful the entire season, so our rates don't change much based on the dates of your visit. There are 5 bedrooms, comfortably accommodating 6 to 8 adults (or two families of four). An additional sleeping area can be made available upon request.
Weeks are rented from Saturday to Saturday. And while it is not inexpensive (unless you compare it to hotel costs), we do offer various discounts, for longer stays or smaller groups, as we try to balance our costs with our wish to make it possible for you to be here.
For example, if you can stay longer, we can reduce the cost of a second and/or third week by several hundred dollars. Frankly, we recommend longer stays, there is so much to do, and all our guests who have stayed two weeks or more have been very glad they did. (See the Reviews tab above.)If this might be an option for you, please let us know as soon as possible, as our weeks can fill up very quickly.
This is your 'vacation of a lifetime'-- give yourself all the time you can.
Perfect for just two of you. The excellent design of the house, with its loft-like living area, and its master bedroom and bath one flight up, allows for a cozy intimacy and romantic feel that's perfect for two friends, lovers, partners, or any couple or a couple of couples. And we'll discount the rate if that helps make it possible.
The pleasures of two weeks. Two weeks give you a great opportunity to get to know this very special region of France (with all the markets, historic sites, hiking and bicycling routes, restaurants, etc., even two weeks won't cover it all), and it is wonderfully relaxing to have the leisure of a longer stay and to really feel a part of village life.
The ideal stay: a month. A lengthy stay in the village is an unsurpassed pleasure, but it requires significant advance notice (since weeks can fill up quickly). If you can create the time for yourself, you’ll have an unforgettable experience—not just unique, but rich with history and community, with adventure and exploration, and perhaps just as important, you’ll feel a deep calm and revivifying sense of place.
Personal service. Unlike days of yore, there are no white-capped servants. And this is not a hotel. This is a modern do-it-yourself holiday house. You get comfortable beds, clean bedding and pillows, a large and small towel, soap and toilet paper, abundant kitchenware, and the advice and personalized suggestions that will make your vacation one of a kind. We can help you with transportation, make suggestions on unmissable attractions, help you choose the best restaurants, provide lists of favorite biking and walking trails, send you the dates and times of the local outdoor markets, and share the recommendations from previous guests of many interesting and unusual things to do. You'll have friendly neighbors and shopkeepers to guide you, as well as our lovely English property managers. But you will largely be on your own to manage the house, your guests, the vacation, as needed.
And if our extensive "operations manual" doesn't help with figuring out the appliances and systems of the house itself, you can always ask our property managers. We can usually get local help for plumbing or electrical emergencies, for example-- but instant repairs are not the norm in France. So if the dishwasher goes out, you'll have to wash dishes by hand. If the lights go out, you may have to rely on candles until the village restores electricity. The TouchStay app, which you will receive to put on your phone or pad, covers just about everything, from how to work the unusual fireplace, setting or re-setting the wifi, operating the appliances, as well as most of necessary information on this website. Some problems may require a bit of do-it-yourself ingenuity, but with the right mind-set, nothing will compromise the pleasures of your holiday.
