A Visit to Paris?

If this is your first time in France and you don't imagine you'll ever be back, then you have to spend some time in Paris. We honestly think you should spend at least two weeks in St. Cirq Lapopie, because that is an ideal minimum for fully relaxing into village life and for taking full advantage of many of the many great things there are to do in the village and region. And a few days in Paris on either end of your vacation here might be ideal.

Here are some thoughts (from our own visits and those of guests) on how to add Paris to your Saint Cirq Lapopie holiday:

We like the idea of staying in Paris after two or three weeks in the village.  You might fly to Toulouse, rent a car and drive to the village (per instructions elsewhere).  Then at the end of your village holiday, you could drive to Paris-- it's a 6 hour drive, but with some lovely places to stop off along the way, for lunch or even an overnight if you don't like the idea of driving 6 hours in one day.  You can drive to the place you're staying in Paris, drop off your luggage, then return the car to your car rental company (you won't need a car in Paris).
Stay a few days (do not crowd in too much; we can suggest a reasonable itinerary), enjoy Paris life and beauty, then fly back home from Paris.  The way airline flights are organized these days, you pay very little, if anything, extra by flying into one city and leaving from another.

There are variations on this theme of course.  You could start in Paris, then drive down to St. Cirq Lapopie.  If you fly into Paris and stay a few days, you can take a train from Paris to Toulouse and rent a car in Toulouse. And if you fly into Toulouse, rent a car, and spend your holiday in St. Cirq Lapopie, you can then either drive to Paris, or leave the car in Toulouse and take the train.
None of this is especially difficult, but for many folks, especially if you've been to Paris and/or you plan to return to France at some point in the future, it is definitely easier (both logistically and mentally) to make this fully a Saint Cirq Lapopie holiday and visit Paris at some future time. Even without Paris, you will not be disappointed.
